POLICIES & HOTEL INFO

We are committed to ensuring you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay with us at Villa Ave del Paraíso. To assist us in delivering you that experience, we have developed the following guidelines and policies to which we respectfully request all guests adhere.

Arrival & Departure

Check-in time is from 15:00 to 21:00.

Check-out time is prior to 11:00.

Early check-in or late check-out may be available upon prior arrangement at an additional fee. We encourage guests to book the night before to guarantee an early check-in. We are also happy to store your items in our secured office so that you may enjoy our shared facilities or the local area whilst waiting for your room to be available or after check out.

Cancellations

We understand that plans can change, and we strive to be as flexible as possible while still taking into consideration our small property size. Cancellations for room reservations made more than seven days prior to the check-in date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within the seven day window of the check-in date will result in the forfeiture of the full reservation payment. For non-refundable rates, cancellations or changes are not permitted and the full amount of the reservation will be charged to the credit card on file at the time of booking. We strongly recommend that guests purchase travel insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances that may require cancellation.

Electricity, water, and wifi

Please note that water, power, and internet outages are common in this region of Costa Rica due to various unforeseen circumstances. While we strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay for our guests, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted water, power supply, and wireless internet service at all times. Each room is equipped with emergency flashlights for the safety of our guests. We also maintain an emergency water tank for shorter water outages. Please do not hesitate to contact our staff for assistance or for more information. We also ask that guests please turn off the air conditioning unit when not in the room.

Housekeeeping service

Housekeeping service is provided for stays longer than four nights.

4 and 5 night reservations will receive one room cleaning, 6 and 7 night reservations will receive two room cleanings.

Laundry

Laundry service is available for $20 a load (wash/dry/fold).

Natural ecosystem

Our location nestled amongst tropical dry forest and one block from the beautiful shoreline comes with the potential for encounters with animals, insects, and plants that are native to the region and are an integral part of the natural ecosystem. Please be aware that some animals and insects may make noises that are unfamiliar (ie. howler monkeys and frogs). We recommend that guests take precautions such as keeping doors and windows closed, using insect repellent, and avoiding leaving food out to minimise the risk of attracting unwanted animals or insects. Additionally, we recommend that you not touch any unknown plants, animals, or insects, as we are not responsible for any damage or harm caused.

Pet policy

We understand pets are part of your family, and we love animals too. However, as we have two resident dogs on the premises, we kindly ask you to leave your pets at home. This policy helps us maintain a serene atmosphere for everyone. Thank you for your understanding.

Pool and yoga facilities

The use of the swimming pool and yoga facilities is voluntary and at the guest's own risk. By using the pool and yoga facilities, guests acknowledge and accept the risk and agree to hold Villa Ave del Paraíso harmless for any injuries or damages that occur. There is no lifeguard on duty. We kindly ask that you please also use the outdoor shower to rinse off before entering the pool. Lastly, please do not use glass containers by the pool.

Shared spaces

We are pleased to offer shared spaces that promote a welcoming environment to meet other travellers. Please help us keep our common areas clean by cleaning up after yourself (ie washing dishes after using, wiping down and putting away yoga mats, taking your pool towels with you). We also request that you keep personal food items in the fridge in your room, as any food left in the kitchen fridge risks being eaten or tossed. Additionally, out of respect for other guests, please minimise noise between 22:00 - 07:00.

Smoking policy

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, including on the outdoor patio. Kindly step outside of our main gates and onto the road should you wish to smoke. We request that all guests comply with this policy out of respect for the health and comfort of other guests and our staff. Violation of this policy may lead to immediate termination of your stay without refund.

Sustainability

We are committed to minimising our ecological impact without sacrificing the comfort of our guests with the following conscious practices:

  • Avoidance of single-use plastics

  • Provision of refillable biodegradable toiletries (hand wash, body wash, shampoo) and cleaning supplies from Costa Rican company Florex

  • Installation of bidets in every toilet to reduce single use paper consumption

  • Onsite compost bin to reduce landfill waste

  • Vegetarian breakfast

  • Reusable napkins

  • Room cleaning and changing of sheets and towels only for stays longer than four days to conserve water and energy

We hope you can support us in these practices and help us reduce our ecological footprint by turning off the lights and air conditioner when not in the room and placing bottles/cans into the recycle bin in the kitchen.

Theft precautions

While we take every precaution to ensure the safety of our guests and their belongings, we cannot be held responsible for any theft, loss, or damage that may occur during your stay. We advise all guests to take cautionary measures to protect their valuables, including but not limited to:

  • Locking all doors and windows of your room and your vehicle.

  • Using the in-room safe to store any valuable items such as cash, passports, and electronics.

  • Avoiding leaving valuables unattended on the beach, in your vehicle, or in public areas.

  • Being mindful of your surroundings and avoiding walking alone at night.

We also recommend that guests keep copies of important documents, such as passports and credit cards, in a secure location, and to inform us immediately if any theft or loss occurs. We urge guests to report any suspicious activity to our staff.

Visitor Policy

To ensure the security and comfort of all our guests, outside visitors are not permitted without prior approval.
